Full Fabric ranks first of the eight platforms compared here for specialist institutions that want CRM and student records in a single system. Tribal SITS places second on the strength of its UK statutory coverage, and Classe365 comes third for smaller institutions that want modular, published pricing.
The enterprise names in the title (Ellucian Banner and Colleague, Workday Student and Oracle Student Management) appear further down. That placement reflects the reader this comparison serves: specialist universities, business schools and conservatoires, not large university systems buying student, HR and finance software in one contract. For those larger buyers, the enterprise suites remain strong candidates.
Four criteria shaped the order: the scope of the student record, whether recruitment and admissions share the same data, national reporting support and pricing transparency. Three of the eight vendors publish some pricing information, and Full Fabric is the one that publishes a flat platform fee.

Institutions that see results from a new SIS tend to do the groundwork before configuration starts. Process mapping comes first: documenting how applications, offers, registration and progression actually run today exposes the steps a new system should remove rather than replicate. Full Fabric, for example, bills process mapping as part of its implementation work, alongside data migration, configuration and training.
Data quality is the second lever. Migrating duplicate applicant records or inconsistent course codes into a new platform carries old problems forward, so a cleanup pass before migration usually pays for itself.
Phasing is the third. Several platforms here are modular, which allows an institution to move admissions or the CRM first and the student record later, limiting risk during a live admissions cycle.
Finally, integrations deserve an owner. LMS, payments, e-signature and plagiarism tools all exchange data with the SIS, and API limits, webhooks and single sign-on settings should be agreed early rather than discovered at go-live.

Business schools, specialist universities, conservatoires |
Specialist institutions rarely start from a blank slate, and Full Fabric is built to slot into the stack already in place. It offers bidirectional connectors for Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics and HubSpot, a UCAS connector and API or CSV data input to SITS, so it can run beside an existing CRM or student record during a transition. Its homepage says it deploys natively on the Microsoft and Salesforce stack.
Underneath, CRM, admissions, commerce and the SIS share one data model. Its SIS tracks courses and academic calendars, records grades and re-registration, and issues transcripts, diplomas and certifications, while admissions handles evaluations, interviews, committees and offers. A REST API allowing 5,000 requests per hour, webhooks and SAML 2.0 SSO round out the technical picture.
The platform fee includes contact management, events, forms, landing pages and automations; Commerce is billed per submitted application, Admissions per processed applicant and the SIS per registered student. LMS connections to Canvas and Blackboard run through the API rather than prebuilt connectors, and there is no finance or HR ERP.

UK institutions with complex registry and Clearing |
Recruitment is a larger part of SITS than its compliance reputation suggests. The platform includes an online admissions portal, campaign and communications management, applicant ranking with widening participation support, and Clearing on the Web.
On the registry side, SITS handles HESA, OfS, SLC and Graduate Outcomes returns, degree apprenticeships from ILR submission to placements, and grade point averages alongside traditional methods. Tribal describes SITS as trusted by over 60% of UK universities. Its focus is firmly on the UK, and independent higher education institutions are pointed to a separate product, EBS.

Classe365 places SIS, LMS and CRM modules in one product, with degree audit, attendance, report cards and online payments included. Parent and student portals and mobile apps cover self-service.
Its pricing is modular: the Core module is priced by student numbers, while each add-on carries a single activation price regardless of student numbers. Not-for-profit customers spending at least $500 a month or $6,000 a year qualify for a 15% discount. National higher education reporting is not mentioned, which matters for institutions with statutory returns.

Integrations cover Google Workspace, Zoom, Webex, Canvas, Moodle and HubSpot. In the published example for 1,000 higher education students, Core costs €8.50 per active student. The page does not mention HESA or IPEDS reporting.

Gartner has named Ellucian a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Higher Education SaaS SIS for the second consecutive year. Banner SaaS spans the journey from enquiry to graduation, upgrades itself automatically and exposes REST APIs, and Colleague SaaS is the second line; one customer on the product page reports a nine-month Colleague SaaS implementation.
The company also absorbed Anthology's SIS and ERP business, bringing more than 260 customers with it, and says it will continue to deliver and maintain Anthology's existing systems. Buyers should ask which line Ellucian recommends for new projects, as no convergence plan has been published.

Oracle Student Management uses dynamic entities to support consortia, multi-institution degrees and exchanges without reimplementation. A 2023 trade press report named the University of Tennessee System, with five campuses, as an adopter.
The application also covers admissions, advising, a curriculum registry and academic plan templates, and sits alongside Oracle Cloud ERP and HCM. PeopleSoft Campus Solutions customers have a described migration path to the cloud product. No pricing is published.

ERP heritage |
Since 1987 |
TechnologyOne's SaaS+ model folds implementation, support and upgrade costs into one fee, which simplifies budgeting for a large replacement project. Standard support is included, with premium support at extra cost.
Student management shares a single data model with financials, HR and payroll, and the suite adds curriculum management, timetabling, exam management and the DxP Student portal. The company says OneEducation serves over 6.5 million students. It is an ERP suite first, with the SIS as one component, and its regional presence stops at Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
The first filter is scope. Institutions replacing student, HR and finance systems together will gravitate to Ellucian, Workday, Oracle or TechnologyOne. Institutions whose bottleneck sits in recruitment and admissions will find more value in Full Fabric, which joins those stages to the student record.
The second is regulation. UK institutions should treat HESA support as a minimum, which points to Tribal SITS or Full Fabric in this group. Classter and Classe365 do not list national reporting on the pages examined.
The third is budget visibility. Only Full Fabric, Classter and Classe365 publish pricing details; the other five require a sales conversation. Implementation should be costed separately, as Full Fabric bills it on time and materials while TechnologyOne includes it in SaaS+.
The fourth is the existing stack. An institution standardised on Microsoft, Salesforce or HubSpot will benefit from Full Fabric's connectors, while one already on Workday or Oracle ERP has an obvious starting point with those vendors.
